• Sex therapy is a type of psychotherapy used to address concerns about sexual function, sexual feelings, and intimacy. Sex therapy can occur as individual therapy or joint therapy with your partner/s.

Sex therapy is usually provided by psychologists, social workers, physicians or licensed therapists who have specialized training in issues related to sex and relationships. Certified sex therapists have graduate degrees and can demonstrate their competence in sex therapy by becoming credentialed by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT).

  • This will look different with each provider and with each individual concern and experience. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, rather I will work collaboratively to address the goals that you have in coming to see me. Sex therapy includes talk therapy practices, as well as some practical interventions that you can utilize at home, either solo or partnered.

  • Absolutely. I am trained to work with a variety of individual and relational concerns outside of sex therapy. The work I do is often systemic so exploring other pieces and parts of your relationships, family of origin, and other life experiences are always welcome!

  • Sex therapists do not have sexual or touch-based contact with clients, in the office or anywhere else. I do not perform sexual coaching that involves physical contact at Lux Counselling. If your sexual concern regards sexual functioning or body functioning concerns, I often recommend outside providers such as Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy, collaboration with your medical provider, or a specialist medical provider such as a urologist or urogynecologist which may include touch contact and examinations in those spaces. While I consider myself a collaborator with your whole care team, no touch or visual examinations take place in the therapeutic space.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes long. If you require shorter or longer sessions, we can have a chat to see if there is wiggle room.

  • This will be dependent on what it is that you are coming in for. I have had clients feel that they met all of their goals after a couple of sessions and I have had clients really like having the space to process and we have been working together for years. In our initial visits, we will go over your goals and get a better idea.

  • Sessions are $200 AUD.

  • As a counsellor, I am not currently eligible to participate in Medicare and GP mental health plans.

I have member numbers with the following private health funds:
    ahm: 21251989

    ARHG: PC29575T

    BUPA: J002856

    HCF: C0000729

    Medibank: A285571H

  • As the cost of living continues to rise, I am super aware that many people need to prioritise many things that come before sexual health. I offer needs based sliding scale spots as they are available. I encourage you to speak with me if you require a lower fee.

  • All payments are online via Stripe. Upon the completion of our first session, I will upload banking/card information onto my Electronic Health Record. From here, payments will store and autoprocess on that platform.

  • I do not currently have weekend appointments. I currently see clients between 9 AM and 3 PM Monday-Wednesdays.

  • For sure! Although I have advanced training in sex therapy, I am also trained to work with a variety of lived experiences and mental heath concerns. I am, however, prioritising sex therapy cases. If what you are looking for is not a fit for my scope of practice, I will try to connect you with the appropriate referrals and resources.
